Banyak institusi pendidikan yang masih mempergunakan manajemen konvensional, sehingga kurang bisa menjawab tantangan zaman. Hal itu mengakibatkan sasaran-sasaran ideal pendidikan yang seharusnya bisa dipenuhi ternyata tidak bisa diwujudkan.

Dengan kata lain, tanpa adanya manajemen pendidikan yang baik, suatu institusi pendidikan tidak akan dapat bergerak secara maksimal sehingga proses pendidikan menjadi tak seperti yang diharapkan.

Wakil Ketua DPR RI Dr Ir Agus Hermanto MM menyampaikan itu saat memberi Kuliah Umum Program Pascasarjana Universitas Negeri Semarang (PPs Unnes), Senin 10 Oktober 2016 di aula Kampus Bendan Ngisor PPs Unnes. Seperti yang dilangsir pps.unnes.ac.id.

Kuliah Umum mengusung tema Kebudayaan dan Kepemimpinan dalam Pendidikan di Indonesia dihadiri 300 mahasiswa S2-S3 PPs Unnes.

Agus Hermanto yang juga Ketua Harian Dewan Penyantun UNNES juga mengemukakan, pendidikan mempunyai peranan yang sangat penting dan strategis dalam pembangunan nasional. Selain itu, juga membangun peradaban bangsa yang berdasarkan atas jati diri dan karakter bangsa.

Sementara itu Direktur PPs UNNES Prof Dr H Achmad Slamet MSi mengungkapkan bahwa mahasiswa baru perlu diberikan pengenalan terhadap kebijakan-kebijakan di bidang pendidikan. Hal ini berguna agar mahasiswa PPs yang notabene adalah calon pendidik dapat menjawab dan siap menghadapi tantangan bangsa di bidang pendidikan.
