UPT Kearsipan Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) telah memusnahkan 4.498 arsip. Arsip ini berasal dari Biro Umum, Hukum, dan Kepegawaian (BUHK). Arsip yang dimusnahkan adalah arsip Tahun 1999, 2000, dan 2001.

Kepala UPT Kearsipan) Dr Muhsin MSi menyampaikan, sebelum arsip dimusnahkan tercatat ada 4.680 arsip, kemudian setelah dilakukan proses verifikasi dari Subbag Tata Usaha (TU), Subbag Barang Milik Negara (BMN), dan Subbag Kepegawaian ada 183 arsip yang tidak dimusnahkan. Jadi, total arsip yang dimusnahkan ada 4.498 arsip, Senin 29 Januari 2018 di kampus UNNES Sekaran Gunungpati.

Muhsin menjelaskan, pemusnahan arsip ini dilakukan dalam rangka melaksanakan Undang-Undang Nomor 43 Tahun 2009 tentang Kearsipan. Adapun prosedur yang telah dilakukan oleh UPT Kearsipan UNNES yaitu pemindahan arsip inaktif dari BUHK ke UPT Kearsipan, arsip telah habis masa retensi dan tidak memiliki nilai guna sesuai dengan peraturan undang-undang, pembentukan panitia penilaian arsip, seleksi arsip.

Kemudian, pembuatan daftar arsip usul musnah, permintaan persetujuan/berita acara dari pimpinan pencipta arsip, penetapan arsip yang akan dimusnhakan, dan pelaksanaan pemusnahan arsip.

Muhsin menegaskan, pemusnahan arsip ini dilakukan dengan pencacahan, sehingga informasi arsip musnah tidak dapat dikenali atau dibaca kembali. Tujuan kegiatan ini untuk efisiensi dan efektivitas kerja, serta penyelamatan informasi dari pihak yang tidak berhak untuk mengetahuinya.
