Diperlukan kerangka dan strategi implementasi agar Universitas Negeri Semarang (Unnes) dapat mewujudkan visinya menjadi World Class University (WCU). Manajemen universitas perlu mempelajari tantangan, peluang, dan sumber daya yang dimilikinya untuk diarahkan untuk mewujudkan visi tersebut.

Untuk meningkatkan kapasitas manajemen, tim Unnes akan mengikuti Masterclass Constructing World Class University, 21 – 24 Agustus 2013 di Hongkong. Tim terdiri atas Rektor, Pembantu Rektor Bidang Administrasi Umum, Ketua Lembaga Penelitian dan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat (LP2M), dan Dekan FMIPA, FBS, dan FE, serta Kepala International Office.

Masterclass menghadirkan oleh Dr Jamil Salmi, mantan koordinator Pendidikan Tinggi World Bank dan Profesor Emeritus di Universitas Diego Portales. Profesor di Universitas Brunei Darussalam ini akan membedah sejumlah persoalan manajerial perguruan tinggi agar terkelola menjadi universitas berkelas internasional.

Rektor Unnes Prof Dr Fathur Rokhman MHum mengungkapkan, masterclass dirancang untuk melakukan eksplorasi mengenai grand design yang diperlukan untuk membangun universitas berkelas internasional. “Output masterclass ini adalah kerangka dan strategi implementasi transformasi untuk meningkatkan kinerja universitas,” katanya, Rabu (14/8).

Setidaknya delapan hal pokok akan dibahas dalam seminar yang diselenggarakan The Mira Hongkong ini. Selain inventarisasi tantangan, Dr Jamil Salmi juga akan memabahas talenta, sumber daya, pemerintahan, benchmarking, dan strategi implementasi.
