Pelabuhan speedboat Pulau Morotai mendadak ramai pada Selasa (25/8) menjelang sore. Puluhan orang berdiri di dermaga yang terbuat dari bahan kayu itu.

Ini peristiwa yang jarang terjadi. Pada hari biasa pelabuhan hanya ramai pada pagi hari, mengantar para pedagang yang akan menyeberang ke Tobelo, Halmahera Utara.

Puluhan orang yang tampak di pelabuhan adalah warga dan pegawai Dinas Pendidikan Kabupaten Pulau Morotai. Mereka datang untuk menyambut 40 peserta Sarjana Mengajar di Daerah Terluar, Terdepan, dan Tertinggal (SM3T) yang akan mengbadi di daerah yang menghadap ke Samudera Pasifik itu.

Kepala Dinas Pendidikan Pulau Morotai Yanto A Gani mengungkapkan, kedatangan para sarjana mengatasi sebagian masalah pendidikan di pulau yang kerap disebut sebagai jendela Indonesia itu.

Sebagai kabupaten yang baru berdiri lima tahun lalu, Pulau Morotai memang masih kekurangan banyak guru. Jangankan guru, di pulau yag pernah menjadi pangkalan militer Amerika dalam perang dunia II itu beberapa posisi kepala dinas pun masih belum terisi.

“Di sini semua sekolah kekurangan guru,” kata Fahrizal, kepala SMA Negeri 4 Pulau Morotai, menimpali. Ia mengatakan, hanya ada 20 guru di sekolahnya.

“Yang paling banyak kurang adalah guru sekolah dasar dan guru pelajaran produktif di SMK. Tapi guru-guru mata pelajaran eksakta juga banyak kurang,” kata Djufri Kepala Bidang Pendidikan Dasar Pulau Morotai.

Sejak berdiri lima tahun silam, kabupaten ini sebenarnya giat membangun. Jalanan di ibu kota kabuaten tampak mulus dan baru, dilengkapi pagar tembok yang indah. Mereka tengah membangun jalan lingkar di sepanjang pantai.

Namun untuk pengadaan guru, pemerintah daerah mengaku kesulitan karena kuotanya ditentukan oleh pemerintah pusat.

Selamat dan “Bertambah”

Pembantu Rektor Bidang Adminsitrasi Umum Unnes Dr S Martono MSi secara resmi menyerahkan keempat puluh sarjana tersebut kepada Plh Bupati Pulau Morotai Ramli Yaman. Kepada Pemerintah Kabupaten Pulau Morotai, Martono menyampaikan bahwa peserta SM-3T telah melewati seleksi dan persiapan yang cukup panjang.

“Di tempatkan di mana pun, mereka siap. Harapan saya, merekadatang dalam kondisi sehat pada hari ini sejumlah 40, setahun lagi kami tarik juga dalam sehat dan bertambah. Dalam artian bertambah pengalaman dan pengetahuannya,” katanya, didampingi Kepala Pusat Pengembangan (Kapuspang) PPG Unnes Drs Ngabiyanto MSi.

Plh Bupati mengungkapkan kegembiraan ketika menerima peserta 40 peserta SM-3T itu. Pria yang mengawali karier sebagai guru itu mengatakan, daeranya terletak di kawasan terluar. Namun, daerahnya tetaplah bagian dari Republik Indonesia.

“Kedatangan Anda sekalian semakin merekatkan perasaan itu, perasaan bahwa Pulau Morotai adalah bagian dari Republik Indonesia,” katanya.

Tidak lama, ia langsung menyerahkan 40 sarjana itu kepada kepala sekolah, kepala desa, dan camat sembari menganjurkan para peserta untuk segera mencicipi papeda, makanan khas Pulau Morotai yang terbuat dari bahan ubi itu.
