Guru memiliki berbagai keterampilan sosial yang diperolehnya selama menempuh pendidikan. Salah satu yang dimiliki adalah keterampilan memimpin. Oleh karena itu, seseorang yang belajar menjadi guru harus siap tampil menjadi pemimpin di masa depan.

Demikian salah satu yang dikatakan Rektor Universitas Negeri Semarang (Unnes) Prof Dr Fathur Rokhman MHum saat berbicara pada stadium general di hadapan mahasiswa PGSD Tegal, Jumat (13/3).

“Tidak hanya memimpin kelas, sekolah, atau perguruan tinggi. Anda juga bisa menjadi pemimpin di berbagai bidang kerja,” kata Rektor.

Di hadapan ratusan mahasiswa PGSD Tegal, profesor sosiolinguistik ini kembali mengajak mahasiswa untuk membuat cita-cita tinggi dalam hidup. Mengutip kalimat Ir Sukarno, ia mengajak mahasiswa untuk menggantungkan cita-citanya di langit.

“Menggantungkan cita-cita di langit berarti membuat cita-cita tertinggi. Jika gagal, Anda akan memperoleh bintang,” katanya.

Untuk mencapai cita-cita demikian, kata Prof Fathur, mahahasiswa perlu percaya diri, bersyukur, dan mengoptimalkan berbagai peluang.

Selain memberikan kuliah umum, Rektor bersama Dekan FIP Prof Dr Fakhrudin dan sejumlah pimpinan fakultas lain menggelar diskusi dengan dosen dan karyawan PGSD Tegal. Sebelumnya, Rektor bersama mahasiswa juga menanam pohon gaharu di halaman kampus.
