Untuk meningkatkan budaya akademik di perguruan tinggi, mahasiswa mutlak harus dilibatkan. Setiap mahasiswa harus memilki keterlibatan yang tinggi dalam kegiatan ilmiah di program studi masing-masing.

Himbauan tersebut disampaikan oleh Pembantu Rektor Bidang Akademik Prof Dr Rustono MHum pada rapat kerja bidang akademik, Jumat (13/2), di Salatiga.

“Keterlibatan mahasiswa itu perlu dihitung sebagai prasyarat mereka ketika hendak menempuh ujian skripsi, tesis, atau ujian akhir. Jika mampu memperoleh poin tertentu dari keterlibatannya dalam seminar, diskusi ilmiah, atau penelitian, baru mereka bisa mengikuti ujian tugas akhir,” katanya.

Selain itu, lanjut Prof Rustono, keterlibatan tersebut perlu dipotret untuk menggenapi portofolio dalam Surat Keterangan  Pendamping Ijazah (SKPI).

Prof. Rustono menyayangkan jika ada mahasiswa yang hingga lulus hanya sekali-dua kali mengikuti seminar atau diskusi ilmiah, apalagi jika tidak pernah sama sekali. “Itu ironis,” katanya menandaskan.

Karena itu, dia mengimbau para pengelola program studi untuk mengambil inisiatif dalam penyelenggaraan kegiatan ilmiah. “Hasil-hasil penelitian penelitian dosen, misalnya, bisa dijadikan sebagai bahan diskusi atau seminar di program studi masing-masing. Demikian pula proyek akhir mahasiswa dan penelitian mahasiswa, bisa menjadi bahasan diskusi,” katanya memberikan contoh.
