Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) mengirim 63 dosen guna mengikuti Konvensi Nasional Pendidikan Indonesia (KONASPI) VIII di Jakarta. Dalam kegiatan ini, Rektor UNNES, Prof Dr Fathur Rokhman, MHum menjadi salah satu pembicara Undangan dengan judul paparan ‘PAUD berkualitas: Beberapa pertanyaan tentang standar’. Peserta dari UNNES yang lain bergantian mempresentasikan makalah mereka dalam sesi paralel dengan tema ‘Arah Kebijakan Pendidikan Guru di Indonesia”.

KONASPI adalah kegiatan akbar yang dilaksanakan setiap empat tahun sekali untuk membahas isu-isu terkini dalam sebuah forum akademik bergengsi. Diikuti oleh lebih dari 1100, peserta, KONASPI VIII tahun ini diadakan dan diikuti oleh 12 universitas negeri yang tergabung dalam Asosiasi Lembaga Pendidikan Tinggi Kependidikan Negeri Indonesia (ALPTKNI). Berlangsung di Grand Sahid Jaya Hotel, konvensi ini diadakan tanggal 12 sampai 15 Oktober 2016. Kegiatan ini dibuka oleh Wakil Presiden Republik Indonesia, H. Jusuf Kalla. Wapres menyampaikan bahwa Indonesia harus menyiapkan guru masa depan yang menguasai teknologi informasi, subyek yang diajarkan dan metode pengajaran modern. Selain dihadiri oleh RI-2, kegiatan ini juga menghandirkan tokoh-tokoh pendidikan dari Indonesia, Finlandia dan Korea Selatan.
