Bagi sejumlah orang, sampah tidak memiliki nilai guna. Namun tidak demikian bagi yang kreatif. Di tangan orang-orang kreatif, sampah bisa diolah kembali menjadi sesuatu yang bernilai, termasuk nilai komersial.

“Ada kreativitas di balik ketidakbergunaan sampah,” kata Eva Banowati, Ketua Divisi Waste Management Badan Pengembang Konservasi Unnes dalam Pelatihan Reuse Sampah, pekan lalu.

Puluhan mahasiswa ambil bagian dalam kegiatan yang diselenggarakan di Rumah Rompos, Fakultas Ilmu Keolahragaan (FIK) Unnes itu. Para mahasiswa dari FBS, FIP, FIS, FE, FH, dan FIK itu mengikuti pelatihan bertema “Membuat Media Pembelajaran melalui Pemrosesan Material Sampah dengan Memegang Prinsip Reuse” itu.

Pada kesempatan itu, mahasiswa tidak hanya diberi bekal teori mengenai manajemen pengelolaan sampah oleh Yoyok dari Komunitas Sampah Perumnas Sampangan. Peserta juga praktik membuat media pembelajaran 3D dari sampah kertas seperti kanton dan kertas lunak lainnya.

Eva Banowati mengatakan, kegiatan ini sebagai upaya Unnes dalam menekan jumlah sampah yang menumpuk yang berakibat pada pencemaran lingkungan. ”Unnes berupaya untuk mengolah limbah sampah sehingga dapat mengurangi dampak pencemaran lingkungan,” kata dosen berprestasi Unnes 2012 ini.

“Sampah juga dapat untuk menumbuhkan inovatif, kreativitas, dan jiwa kewirausahaan mahasiswa,” tambahnya.

    Salam ijo royo royo!
    ini saat pertama saya kembali membuka jejaring dengan almamater saya, sejak 11 tahun sy meninggalkannya.
    Salut buat Bu Eva dan Kru nya. saya juga memperjuangkan “ijo royo-royo” alias pemanfaatan sampah dan pelestarian lingkungan di sekitar tempat tinggal saya. baru sedikit memang yang kami lakukan, seperti pemilahan sampah kering, pemanfaatan limbah kain, dan pembibitan. yang penting istiqomah. kalau ada program kerjasama, kami sangat senang bila dilibatkan. oh ya perlu diketahui, kami tinggal di daerah ngaliyan yang saat ini banyak pembukaan lahan besar-besaran untuk perumahan. kami punya foto-foto kerusakan lingkungan. walaupun demikian, ingin sekali kami mengakses peta konservasi untuk wilayah Ngaliyan khususnya.

    salam bumiku sayang,
    lama saya tidak mengikuti perkembangan unnes, 12 tahun sudah ku tinggalkan…geografi jurusanku…ikut senang membaca kegiatan membuat media pembelajaran 3d dari sampah,,,,,boleh lah bagi-bagi ilmunya karena di lingkunganku banyak sampahnya, apalagi di sekolah juga setiap hari ada sampah,,,bagus banget tentunya bila siswa memanfaatkan….lingkungan jd bersih dan anak-anak jd kreatif. Selamat untuk Ibu Eva Banowati, khususnya dosen-dosen unnes jurusan Geografi…
