Setelah sukses menggelar See Conic untuk mahasiswa asing, Unnes akan kembali menerima 19 mahasiswa asing melalui program Darmasiswa.  Mereka datang dari 16 negara berbeda di antaranya Inggris (2 mahasiswa), Italia (1), Portugal (1), Jepang (1), China (2), Amerika Serikat (1), dan Afganistan (1).

Selain itu, Hungaria (2), Lithunia (1), Peru (1), Polandia (1) Portugal (1), Vietnam (1) Rusia (1), Slowakia (1), dan Thailand (2).

“Mahasiswa asing itu belajar di Unnes melalui program Darmasiswa Republik Indonesia di bawah naungan Kementerian Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan (Kemendikbud),“ kata pengelola Program Darmasiswa Unnes Badrus Siroj MPd ketika memberi penjelasan pada kegiatan orientasi yang dimulai hari ini Selasa (3/9) di Gedung Rektorat Kampus unnes sekaran Gunungpati.

Orientasi yang akan diselenggarakan selama satu minggu ini, menurut Badrus bertujuan untuk memberi bekal pada mereka untuk mengenal Unnes dan Semarang, “selain mempererat kerja sama dengan universitas di luar negeri, program ini diharapkan bisa menjadi stimulus dalam menarik mahasiswa asing belajar ke Unnes, sehingga visi Internasionalisasi Unnes semakin nyata,” kata dosen Bahasa Indonesia itu.

Badrus juga mengatakan, mereka akan diterima secara resmi oleh Rektor Unnes Prof Dr Fathur Rokhman MHum dalam kegiatan Welcoming Party yang akan digelar di Loby Rektorat Unnes Kampus Sekaran Rabu (4/9).

Berbagai bidang ilmu

Pada kesempatan terpisah, Rektor Unnes mengatakan, selama satu tahun mereka dapat mempelajari berbagai bidang ilmu. “Mahasiswa asing dapat belajar bahasa dan budaya Indonesia, batik, tari, lukis, keramik, dan musik tradisional Indonesia” katanya.

Melalui program tersebut, Prof Fathur berharap Unnes akan lebih dikenal di mancanegara. “Kerja sama ini kami harapkan dapat membantu Unnes untuk menuju world class university,” tandasnya.

Mereka juga dipersilakan menggunakan fasilitas laboratorium di semua fakultas di Unnes secara gratis. “Para dekan harus menyambut mereka dan memberikan fasilitas yang terbaik,” ujarnya.
