Indonesia yang terdiri atas berbagai suku, agama, ras, dan golongan gampang sekali menghadapi ancaman perpecahan akibat berbagai konflik sosial.

Dengan berbagai alasan, sekelompok orang melakukan kekerasan lerhadap kelompok lainnya. Fakta ini menunjukkan bahwa kekerasan bukan hanya monopoli negara. Sejak 2001, kekerasan dilakukan oleh kelas menengah, orang-orang desa, kelompok etnis, dan para penjahat.

Dalam Seminar Nasional PPKn 2011 di Gedung C7 Fakultas Ilmu Sosial Universitas Negeri Semarang (Unnes) Senin (9/12), dosen Universitas Paramadina DR Bima Arya Sugiarto mengatakan penyebab konflik sosial di Indonesia banyak sekali. Antara lain salah paham antarbudaya, identitas kelompok terganggu, kemiskinan, dan menjamurnya kelompok Islam radikal. Kelompok inilah yang kabarnya sering menolak berbagai keragaman baik budaya maupun toleransi beragam.

“Kita belum siap pada iklim demokrasi dan perbedaan. Politik dan kebijakan pemerintah juga menjadi salah satu faktor penyebabnya,” kata Bima Arya dalam makalah yang bertajuk Multikulturalisme dan Pembangunan Karakter Bangsa.

Untuk mengatasinya, lanjut Ketua DPP Partai Amanat Nasional ini, harus ada cetak biru nation building. “Program yang bersifat jangka panjang dan berkesinambungan. Soal ini, rezim Orde Baru lebih baik. Misalnya, ada program Repelita I, II, dan seterusnya.”

Dia menyebutkan, saat ini yang pertu dilakukan pemerintah yakni pembentukan karakter atau state building serta pembangunan masyarakat madani. “Terbukti masyarakat madani adalah bagian mutlak dari wujud cita-cita kenegaraan, yaitu mewujudkan keadilan sosial bagi seluruh rakyat Indonesia,” katanya.

Seminar Nasional dengan tema “Problem Pembpangunan Karakter Bangsa” ini, menurut Ketua Panitia Choirul Amin, bertujuan untuk menumbuhkan karakter dan rasa nasionalisme peserta sebagai bangsa yang punya kebanggaan, berbudi pekerti luhur, berbudaya, berkesejahteraan, dan memiliki karakter sebagai bangsa Indonesia.

“Melalui seminar ini juga diharapkan dapat tumbuh karakter pribadi sesuai dengan empat pilar bangsa Indonesia sehingga problem pembangunan karakter bangsa dapat teratasi,” kata mahasiswa HKn angkatan 2009 itu.

Pembicara lain dalam seminar ini adalah Rektor Universitas Pandanaran Semarang Dr Inu Kencana, yang memberikan motivasi bertajuk Character National Building dalam Perspektif Ideologi Kesejahteraan.

  1. kajian yang sangat bagus; namun sayang ada statement yg terlalu prejudice terhadap kelompok agama. Apakah islam radikal itu? definisi yang dipaksa untuk ada. salah satu permasalahan terjadinya social clash adalah gerakan membabi buta suatu agama yang memaksa umat agama lain untuk memeluk agamanya dg cara apapun. mungkin ini salah satu alasan terjadinya kekacauan namun luput dari pengamatan kita.
