Ada Mahesa Jenar di Kampus Unnes Sekaran. Dari Fakultas Bahasa dan Seni (FBS), ia mengendarai kuda seraya diiringi tari barongan dan puluhan gadis cantik menuju Auditorium.

Sesampai di Auditorium, ia disambut ratusan tamu dan menyampaikan pidato ilmiah tentang Sambang Rasa dalam Sastra Jawa.

Tentu saja itu bukan tokoh Mahesa Jenar seseungguhnya – toh Mahesa Jenar memang hanya tokoh rekaan. Tokoh yang datang ke Unnes adalah dosen Jurusan Bahasa dan Sastra Jawa Prof Dr Teguh Supriyanto. Dia berkostum Jawa dan memerankan diri menjadi tokoh berjuluk Senapati Rangga Tohjaya itu.

Apa kaitannya Mahesa Jenar dengan Teguh Supriyanto? Saat menyelesaikan studi doktoral di Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), Teguh meneliti Nagasasra. Mahesa Jenar adalah tokoh utama dalam cerita karangan SH Mintardja itu.

Dalam pidato pengukuhannya, Teguh menyampaikan bahwa sastra Indonesia dalam kemunculannya lebih dahulu menyambangi sastra Barat, sastra Jawa, dan sastra daerah lainnya.

“Jika kita amati, sastra Indonesia era 1980-an gejala yang tampak ada sambung rasa (relasi ideologis) antara sastra Indonesia modern dengan sastra daerah,” katanya.
