Duta Besar Afrika Selatan untuk Indonesia Dr Noel Noa Lehoko bertandang ke Universitas Negeri Semarang (Unnes), Senin (7/10).

Kedatangan Dr Noel ke Unnes untuk membuka kesempatan dan akan memfasilitasi kerja sama antara Indonesia dengan universitas ternama di Afrika Selatan. Nantinya, akan ada kolaborasi Unnes dengan universities in South East Africa.

I hope that we can start a collaboration between Indonesia and South Africa. In the case, we will look for opportunity to have a contact with universities in South Africa.” Demikian harapan Rektor Unnes Prof Dr Fathur Rokhman MHum saat menyambut acara kunjungan itu di Rektorat Kampus Sekaran.

Selain Rektor, hadir pula Pembantu Rektor, Kabiro, Ketua Lembaga, Kepala UPT, Kabag dan Kasubbag Kerja Sama Unnes, juga Kabag dan Kasubbag Kerja Sama Provinsi Jawa Tengah.

Menurut Prof Fathur, peningkatan kualitas sumber daya manusia dan pertumbuhan ekonomi Afrika Selatan berkembang pesat. Untuk itu, Indonesia bisa belajar dari negara tersebut.

“We would like to offer short courses for your students in South Africa to stay and study in Indonesia for short term basis to know our language, our culture and history,” kata Prof Fathur. Dia menawarkan kursus singkat kepada mahasiswa Afrika Selatan untuk studi di Unnes, belajar tentang bahasa, budaya, maupun sejarah Indonesia.

Sementara itu, Dr Noel menyambut baik dan positif penawaran itu, dan akan menindaklanjuti kerja sama tersebut, dibuktikan dengan penandatanganan “Minutes of Meeting between Development and Partnership Affair Semarang State University and The Embasy of the Republic of South Africa for Indonesia”.
