Kecerdasan tanpa diikuti dengan karakter yang baik, justru akan merusak. Akar dari praktik korupsi, kolusi, dan nepotisme adalah luntur atau hilangnya karakter yang baik.

“Kita semua harus berani menjadi guru dalam konteks komunitas masing-masing,” tandas Menteri Koordinator Bidang Kesejahteraan Rakyat (Menko Kesra) RI, HR Agung Laksono, ketika menyampaikan orasi ilmiah pada penganugerahan gelar doktor kehormatan honoris causa, Selasa (5/6) di kampus Sekaran.

Pada penganugerahan gelar yang diberikan Rektor Universitas Negeri Semarang Prof Sudijono Sastroatmodjo itu, Agung Laksono menyampaikan orasi berjudul Peran Sumber Daya Manusia Berkualitas dalam Peningkatan Kesejahteraan Rakyat.

Dikatakan Menko Kesra, keberhasilan pembangunan ekonomi memberikan kontribusi yang besar terhadap daya saing bangsa Indonesia. “Pada tahun 2010-2011 daya saing Indonesia mengalami lompatan yang sangat signifikan dari tahun sebelumnya. Peringkat daya saing Indonesia meningkat dari 54 menjadi 44 dunia,” katanya dihadapan anggota senat universitas dan ratusan tamu undangan.

Tuntaskan Wajib Belajar

Pendorong daya saing, menurutnya, adalah keberhasilan Indonesia menuntaskan program pendidikan wajib belajar 9 tahun dan saat ini sedang dirintis program pendidikan menengah universal 12 tahun. “Untuk mempercepat pelaksanaan itu, sangat mendesak dilakukan amandemen UU Nomor 20 tahun 2003 tentang sistem pendidikan nasional. Dengan demikian, program tersebut memiliki payung hukum yang kuat sekaligus mengantisipasi semakin besarnya ketersediaan anggaran pendidikan,” ujar pria kelahiran Semarang, 23 Maret 1949 ini.

Rektor Unnes Prof Sudijono Sastroatmodjo mengatakan, penganugerahan akademik kehormatan ini sesungguhnya bukanlah sebuah proses yang tiba-tiba, melainkan melalui tahapan yang relatif panjang.  “Proses itu dimulai dari pengusulan oleh Program Studi Manajemen Pendidikan kepada Direktur Progran Pascasrjana yang diteruskan kepada rektor,” kata Prof Sudijono.

“Orang yang paling bertanggung jawab atas kesejahteraan rakyat Indonesia ini dianggap pantas menerimanya karena kapasitas, kapabilitas, dan kepeduliannya terhadap pembangunan Indonesia, khususnya pembangunan sumber daya manusia,” katanya.

Dalam acara ini turut hadir pula Menteri Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan M Nuh, Dirjen Dikti Kemdikbud Djoko Suyanto, sejumlah anggota DPR, MPR, DPD, DPRD, dan para rektor PTN-PTS.

    Saya setuju dengan usulan mas Kiki kalo Sri Sultan HB X juga dianugerahi Dr.HC dari kampus konservasi kita. Salah satu alasan adalah, Jogjakarta dibawah kepemimpinan beliau -apalagi semenjak lahirnya “reformasi” yg di daerah lain kadang menimbulkan gejolak, namun suasana Jogja tetap aman dan nyaman. Hal ini tak lepas dari kearifan lokal yg bersumber dari nilai-nilai budaya yang pada kehidupan keseharian rakyatnya dicontohkan oleh para pemimpinnya, termasuk oleh Sri Sultan sebagai panutan rakyat. Saya setuju juga kalo Jogjakarta tetap menjadi DIY (Daerah Istimewa Jogjakarta :))

  3. Memang pangkal dari segala sesuatu adalah karakter individu. Jikalau karakter dalam pribadi sudah terbentuk, saya yakin penyimpangan-penyimpangan akan dapat diminimalisir. Akan tetapi itu semua menuntut usaha kita bersama (pemerintah dan stake holders ) dalam mewujudkannya. Untuk itu, mari bergandeng tangan bersama untuk menjadikan masyarakat Indonesia selain mempunyai intelektualitas tinggi juga sebagai insan yang berkarakter.
