Seleksi Bersama Masuk Perguruan Tinggi Negeri (SBMPTN) pendaftaran secara online akan dimulai 25 April 2016 pukul 08.00 wib.

Tata cara pendaftaran SBMPTN 2016 adalah:
1. Pendaftaran dilakukan secara online di http://pendaftaran.sbmptn.ac.id
2. Tata cara pengisian borang pendaftaran ujian tertulis dan ujian ketrampilan diunduh di http://download.sbmptn.ac.id mulai tanggal 18 April 2016.
3. Pendaftaran online untuk peserta Computer Base Test (CBT) mulai 25 April 2016 pukul 08.00 WIB sampai dengan 9 Mei 2016 pukul 22.00 WIB.
4. Pendaftaran online untuk peserta Paper Base Test (PBT) mulai 25 April 2016 pukul 08.00 WIB sampai dengan 20 Mei 2016 pukul 22.00 WIB

Yang membedakan SBMPTN 2016 ini adanya CBT dan PBT. Kedua model tes memiliki tiga materi di dalamnya yaitu Tes Kemampuan dan Potensi Akademik, Tes Kemampuan Dasar Sains dan Teknologi (TKD Saintek), dan Tes Kemampuan Dasar Sosial dan Humaniora (TKD Soshum).

Untuk Ujian Keterampilan hanya diperuntukan bagi peminat program studi bidang ilmu Seni dan Keolahragaan. Ujian ketrampilan dapat dilakukan di Perguruan Tinggi Negeri (PTN) terdekat yang memiliki program studi yang sesuai dengan Pilihan peserta.

Hasil seleksi SBMPTN akan diumumkan pada 28 Juni 2016 mulai pukul 17.00 win dan dapat diakses di http://sbmptn.ac.id.

Bagi yang mengikuti CBT Unnes mempunyai kuota 100 peserta, CBT akan dilaksanakan di Fakultas Matematika dan Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam (FMIPA) dan UPT TIK.

Menurut Wakil Rektor Bidang Akademik Unnes Prof Dr Rustono Mhum, “di jalur SBMPTN ini Unnes menerima 1.859, mereka akan diterima di 74 program studi (prodi) yang tersebar di delapan fakultas”.

“Untuk tahun 2016 Unnes mendapatkan kuota Bidikmisi sebanyak 620 peserta dari Direktorat Jenderal Pembelajaran dan Kemahasiswaan (Belmawa) Kementerian Riset, Teknologi dan Perguruan Tinggi, Unnes masih mengajukan penambahan kuota Bidikmisi. Pembagian Kuota Bidikmisi untuk SNMPTN sebanyak 65 %, SBMPTN 35%, Seleksi Mandiri 5%”, kata Prof Rustono.

Kepala UPT Pusat Humas Universitas Negeri Semarang (Unnes) Hendi Pratama menambahkan, “Dalam era digital saat ini untuk memperoleh informasi penerimaan mahasiswa baru di Unnes sangatlah mudah. Karena sudah tersedia versi Android tinggal mengunduh Unnes App di Play Store”.
