Melaui peringatan hari musik dunia diharapkan dapat membangun harmoni indah yang dapat dinikmati semua orang. Seni terutama seni musik tidak bisa dilepaskan dari kehidupan, sehingga melalui eksplorasi kreativitas seni yang digagas oleh Unnes dapat menghidupkan Semarang. Hal tersebut diungkapkan Wali Kota Semarang dalam sambutannya yang dibacakan oleh Herawan Sasongko SH selaku Sekretaris Dinas Pariwisata dan Kebudayaan Kota Semarang dalam pembukaan peringatan hari musik dunia di gedung B6 Fakultas Bahasa dan Seni (FBS), Universitas Negeri Semarang (Unnes), Minggu (21/6).

Ketua Jurusan Seni Drama dan Musik (Sendratasik) Joko Wisoyo mengharapkan kedepan kegiatan peringatan hari tari dunia dapat lebih banyak lagi melibatkan partisipan dari luar kampus sehingga kegiatan ini sekaligus sebagai upaya meningkatkan popularitas Unnes.

Selain semangat dalam menyajikan peristiwa bunyi (musik) sebagai medium penyampaian gagasan kegiatan ini juga mempunyai makna membangun harmoni dari beragam alat musik.

Penyaji yang turut memeriahkan gelaran ini antara lain Mario Mapara dan kawan-kawan (Asia Africa Percussion), lagon dolanan yang dipandegani dening Indrawan Nur Cahyono , pemanfaatan teknologi dalam eksplorasi instrumen tradisi oleh Andhika Kurniawan, rampak kendang, gendhing klasik oleh UKM Karawitan, keroncong disajikan oleh Ibnu Amar Muchsin, komposisi instalasi bunyi oleh Usman Wafa, paduan suara kelompok VOC, sajian musik mahasiswa tiap angkatan dan sajian musik dari Alumni Seni Musik. Workshop Gambang Semarang juga melengkapi kegiatan peringatan hari musik dunia yang di gelar Unnes tahun 2015 ini.
