Menjadi universitas yang mempunyai teknologi informasi (information technology/IT) yang cukup membanggakan, membuat Universitas Negeri Semarang (Unnes) menjadi tempat bagi universitas lain untuk belajar. Universitas Negeri Jakarta (UNJ) salah satunya.

Dipimpin Pembantu Rektor Bidang Akademik (PRI) UNJ Prof Muchlis Rantoni Luddin dan rombongan yang terdiri atas 34 pejabat universitas eks IKIP Jakarta itu memang hadir di Unnes, Rabu (29/10), dengan niat utama mempelajari hal itu.

“Kemajuan IT di Unnes itulah salah satu yang membuat kegairahan kami datang ke Unnes ini,” kata PR I UNJ

Kepada Unnes, Prof Muchlis juga berharap dibangun sinergi yang lebih kukuh di antara dua universitas negeri eks IKIP itu. “Kita ada hubungan emosional karena memiliki latar belakang dan sejarah yang kurang lebih sama. Itu artinya lebih banyak yang bisa kita kerjasamakan,” ujarnya dalam acara Studi Banding yang dihadiri para dekan dan beberapa pejabat Unnes di Kampus Sekaran Gunungpati.

Menurut PR I Unnes Dr Agus Wahyudin, perkembangan IT di Unnes cukup membanggakan. Unnes telah memiliki setidaknya 115 sistem, salah satu diantaranya adalah Siomon, sistem informasi monitoring penanaman pohon, “sistem ini memungkinkan proses penanaman pohon dimonitoring hingga mahasiswa lulus,” katanya.

Dikemukakan pula, tak mungkin sebuah universitas mampu mengembangkan diri secara optimal tanpa bkerja sama dengan universitas lain. “Di antara universitas-universitas, pastilah ada kelebihan yang dimiliki, namun di situ pula sangat mungkin ada kelemahannya. Dengan kerja sama, kita bisa saling melengkapi. Sebab, akan tiada artinya keberadaan kita jika tidak saling berbagi,” katanya.
