Hingga saat ini sudah ada 200 sarjana yang lulus dari program Indonesia cerdas. Program ini merupakan salah satu dari lima program Badan Amil Zakat Nasional (BAZ) Nasional bekerja sama dengan Kementerian Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan serta perguruan tinggi di Indonesia.

Ketua Umum BAZ Nasional Prof Dr Didin Hafidhuddin MSc mengatakan hal itu saat menjadi narasumber pada seminar nasional ”Optimalisasi Zakat di Perguruan Tinggi untuk Peningkatan Kesejahteraan dan Pemberdayaan Umat”, Senin (22/7), di Unnes kampus Sekaran.

Kegiatan yang diselenggarakan Badan Amalan Islam Universitas Negeri Semarang (BAI Unnes) itu dibuka Rektor Prof Fathur Rokhman serta diikuti ratusan dosen dan karyawan universitas itu.

“Program Indonesia cerdas merupakan program beasiswa kepada pelajar dan mahasiswa yang secara intelektual tinggi, tapi kurang beruntung secara ekonomi. Oleh karena itu, kami menggandeng Kemdikbud dan perguruan tinggi di Indonesia untuk turut membiayai para calon sarjana dalam program Satu Keluarga Satu Sarjana (SKSS),” kata Guru Besar Ilmu Agama Islam Institut Pertanian Bogor (IPB).

“Program SKSS ini juga bertujuan untuk memotong rantai kemiskinan dengan harapan mereka bisa bangkit dari keadaan itu dengan ilmu pengetahuan yang telah diperoleh,” katanya.

Prof Didin juga mengemukakan, program SKSS sudah berjalan lima tahun melibatkan di antaranya 12 perguruan tinggi umum dan 54 universitas Islam negeri dengan mencari 10 orang di setiap perguruan tinggi untuk dibiayai kuliahnya sampai lulus.

“Perguruan tinggi bisa ambil bagian dalam menyediakan SDM sebagai amil zakat. Kemudian membangun sistem pembayaran zakat di lingkungan kampus,”tandasnya.

Mahasiswa terpilih setiap bulannya mendapat biaya hidup sebesar Rp 500.000, sedangkan besaran biaya kuliah tergantung dari masing-masing perguruan tinggi. “Dananya berasal dari zakat atau sedekah yang dihimpun dari perguruan tinggi,” tutur Didin.

Pembicara lain, Muslim Rahmadi, praktisi pengelola Zakat, Infaq, dan Sodaqoh (ZIS) Kabupaten Kendal menyatakan, zakat sebagai rukun Islam masih sering diabaikan. “Kebanyakan ketidaktahuan itu kurang sosialisasi kepada masyarakat, masyarakat sendiri merasa tidak ada hubungan apa-apa dengan zakat. Pada hal harta yang tidak dizakati akan menjadi bara api di akhirat nanti,” katanya.

Menyelamatkan harta itu dengan cara penyucian, yakni dengan zakat mengeluarkan 2,5 persen atau seperempat puluhnya melalui amil zakat. Harta itu kemudian diberikan kepada golongan delapan asnaf (orang-orang fakir, miskin, para amil zakat, muallaf, untuk memerdekakan budak, orang-orang yang herhutang, fi sabilillah, dan ibnu sabil).
